"Today, I saw a tow truck being towed by another tow truck. I said to myself, I guess we all have breakdowns and need a little help sometimes."

![4 years in practice 💛
Hailing from a small town where mental health continues to be taboo, I began my practice with clenched fists hoping things would change in time. Slowly, they have.
As I hold space for my clients, the past few years have reminded me of how I, too, feel held by my clients in the process. It's a privilege to have their trust, commitment, and openness in our work together. It reminds me that therapy will always be a collaborative process: one where the client and therapist grow together.
Perhaps that's why one of my biggest learnings as a therapist has been this: Becoming a therapist is essentially becoming more of myself.
It is as simple-and as complicated as that.
"Growth is less about becoming better and more about continuously inching closer to the truth about who we really are." ~ @_lisaolivera

Recently, I got an opportunity to attend my first in-person training in Bangalore, India. It was aimed to explore our attachment patterns in relationships and families, organized and facilitated by the amazing team at @ianindia20
Apart from sharing space with thirty incredible therapists, it was my first exploration of experiential group work offline. The group dialogue, attachment interview and psychodrama helped increase self-awareness, learn and unlearn many relational dynamics, thereby highlighting the importance of containment of our feelings. It was a moving experience to sit with my colleagues as we reflected on the experiences that led us to choose the nature of work we do. It made me feel seen, to say the least.
I usually refrain from sharing any private moments on Instagram, but we have exceptions. It's been a meaningful exchange of stories and hope, accompanied with many meaningful friendships that I look forward to continuing.

![Growing up, for most women in my life, idle time was equivalent to being worthless. It was quietly accompanied by guilt, restlessness, and the quest to find and take up more work – to remain a "good" daughter, mother, sister, partner and so much more.
I learnt how our society often measures the value of labor in economic terms, leaving women's emotional labour and caregiving out of the picture. While we openly discuss women's rights and policies, we rarely talk about how little ownership women have of their time. Having seen how women were always expected to perform the efforts-intensive parts of loving and caring, I grew resentful of the larger power structures at home and in society.
As a result, I started prioritising pockets of leisure every day as an act of resistance – from soaking in the sun every morning, quietly sipping on my evening chai, to lying down with my legs up the wall as I gave myself the permission to slow down. Most of the time, it's still accompanied with a lot of guilt and shame but it's a work in progress.
Growing up, what were you taught to believe about leisure?
